The magic forest.

Once upon a time....

Anyway, I love forests with a stream going through them. It creates its own magic: the water, the light, the trees, the sounds and smells. The last two I can't add but I can try and capture some of the visual magic in photos.

Spring flowers

I posted shots of flowers before and every time I try to do something a bit different. Here are three shots that I took yesterday.

Update (no photos)

Hi everyone.

My blog was set up so you could scroll down and see all the photos on one page.

Some people with a slow connection pointed out to me that my blog was slow loading because I have so many posts on the one page.

So from now on there will only be the maximum of 10 posts on the main page. You will have to click on the links on the right hand side of the page to see the older posts. They are arranged by year and month. You can also scroll down and click on "older posts" at the bottom of this page.

Hallo allemaal.

Groningen, the Netherlands in black and white.

After all these colourful shots, it's time for a few black and white photos again. These photos were taken in my home city of Groningen, the Netherlands. From the bottom up: moody view of the A-kerk (A-church), inside my favourite grand café 't Feithhuis, the Martini tower, bikes and buildings and the only one with a bit of colour: office buildings alongside a canal.

Visitors

Hooray!!!!! I've passed the 50 mark. So far people from 53 different countries have visited my blog. Great. Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to look at my photos.

It would be nice though if people would leave a comment every now and then. Even when you don't have a blogger account you can still leave a comment. And I don't mind if you leave it in a language other than English. As long as it is in western European script, I will figure it out. It doesn't have to be an essay either. Just a little message, a few words......... please!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, and thanks to the people who did reply, especially powergirl and eosforever who've commented on a lot of threads. Thanks a lot. It's appreciated. And thanks a lot for the compliments as well.

But I'm already very happy with all the visitors so I shouldn't complain, really.

Thanks again for visiting everyone. More photos to follow soon. :)

Siena, Italy part 2: people shots

The people are my real interest when I travel. Here are some shots that I didn't want to put in the slide show but wanted to show individually.

The top photo is me with three lovely French girls who I got talking to. Their male friend was kind enough to take a photo with my other camera. :) Click on the photos to see the bigger version.

Siena, Italy part 1: slide show.

Siena, Italy. A beautiful medieval city. This city has 17 Contrade or districts. They all have their own colours and rituals. You can click on a photo in the slide show. That will bring you to my Flickr page where you can see the bigger version.

Watch this

Just the movement of a watch done in a slightly artsy fartsy way.

I kinda like it.

Barcelona Mercè festival

The Mercè festival, which takes place in September, is Barcelona's biggest festival.

Barcelonians are crazy people :) They dress up as devils and go around with fireworks in the streets, spraying it all over the innocent bystanders.

It was actually great fun. I first kept my distance a bit but couldn't get any good shots. I was only dressed in jeans and a t-shirt while most of the people standing close were wearing some kind of protection like jackets with hoodies or scarfs around their head. At some stage I just braved it and went on the street, right in the middle of it. The camera protected my face more or less while the UV filter protected the lens. I felt burning on my shoulders a few times and after the event I found out that I had burn holes in my t-shirt. Ah well, it was worth it.

There was also a fireworks display on the hill Montjuïc which was absolutely beautiful and lasted for a long time. There are also a few shots of that display in this slideshow. Just click on one of the photos to go to the set on my flickr page and see the bigger photos.

Denise in colour

Just one shot and I think it's a nice one. I think Denise might like this one in print as well.
